Bayern Stars Begin Training Under Kompany’s Leadership

Vincent Kompany has put the stars of FC Bayern Munich through their paces for the first time under his leadership. The 38-year-old conducted his first training session as coach of the German football record champions on Wednesday at the club’s facility on Säbener Straße. After a brief warm-up session, the Belgian delivered his first address, then continued with the rest of the training program.

Among the 13 professionals were national players Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka, who both did not participate in the home European Championship. Additionally, five youth players and two goalkeepers took part in the session. New signing Hiroki Ito was also present.

Kompany communicated with his players in both German and English. “I want to ensure that the start of training goes smoothly and that the season preparation goes according to plan,” Kompany said on the club’s TV channel. He emphasized that the right mentality must be present from the start.

Euro Participants Arriving Later

Due to the vacations of the European Championship participants, Kompany currently has a small squad at his disposal. Harry Kane and others have a total of three weeks to recuperate. After the initial days in Munich, the team will travel to a three-day training camp at Tegernsee from July 22 to 24, where they will conclude with a friendly match against FC Rottach-Egern.

A friendly against the regional league team 1. FC Düren follows on July 28, before the team heads to South Korea from July 31 to August 5. Bayern’s first competitive match will be in the DFB-Pokal on August 16, away against the newly promoted second-division team SSV Ulm.
